Starting fresh in WoW Classic Anniversary can feel overwhelming, especially when gold is scarce in the early levels. Mount training, skills, and basic supplies all require a steady income, and falling behind early can slow your progress significantly. The good news is that there are plenty of efficient WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Gold farms you can do while leveling from 1 to 20—without sacrificing experience gains.

This guide covers the best early-game farming spots, key items to target, and practical strategies to help you build a strong gold foundation before moving into higher-level content.

Why Early Gold Farming Matters

In the early stages of WoW Classic, every piece of silver counts. Unlike later expansions, gold is harder to come by, and even small upgrades can feel expensive. By combining leveling with smart farming, you can stay ahead of the curve and avoid unnecessary grinding later.

The key principle is efficiency: you should always be gaining experience and gold at the same time.

Level 1-5: Humanoid Farming for Linen Cloth

Your first opportunity to earn gold begins right in your starting zone. Focus on farming humanoid enemies, as they drop linen cloth, vendor trash, and small amounts of copper.

Alliance players can do this effectively in Elwynn Forest, while Horde players can mirror the same strategy in Durotar, Mulgore, or Tirisfal Glades. The exact location matters less than the type of enemy—humanoids are your priority.

Linen cloth is in high demand early on due to its use in First Aid and Tailoring. It sells quickly on the Auction House, making it one of the most reliable early-game income sources.

Level 5-10: Wolves, Meat, and Small Eggs

As you progress, shift your focus to beasts—particularly wolves. These mobs drop stringy wolf meat, which is widely used for leveling Cooking. Because many players level professions early, this item sells consistently.

You'll also encounter birds in the same areas, which can drop small eggs. These are surprisingly valuable due to their use in various recipes and seasonal events.

The beauty of this farm is its simplicity: mobs are easy to kill, respawn quickly, and provide steady income while you level naturally.

Choosing the Right Professions

At this stage, picking the right professions can significantly boost your gold income. Skinning and Mining are excellent choices for early levels.

Skinning allows you to turn beast kills into light leather and scraps, both of which sell well. Mining provides copper ore, another high-demand resource, early in the game.

By combining these professions with your farming routes, you effectively double your gold income without extra effort.

Level 10-14: Humanoid Camps and Cloth Farming

Once you reach level 10, humanoid camps become one of the most consistent gold farms available. Alliance players can head to Westfall to farm Defias enemies, while Horde players can target quillboars or pirates in the Barrens.

These enemies drop linen and wool cloth, along with green items, silver, and useful materials like light feathers. Wool cloth, in particular, becomes increasingly valuable as players advance their professions.

Because humanoids drop both raw currency and trade goods, this stage marks a noticeable increase in your cheap WoW Classic Fresh Gold per hour.
